/ABOUT
Strings Editions is a library dedicated to music from the Renaissance, Baroque, and Classical-Romantic periods, adapted for the modern guitar. Our catalog includes compositions for plucked string instruments from these periods, as well as transcriptions of works by Domenico Scarlatti and J. S. Bach that were not originally conceived for this family of instruments.
At Strings Editions, we pursue two fundamental goals. The first is to offer editions with complete and thoughtfully crafted fingerings, allowing guitarists to move beyond versions that are poorly edited or entirely lacking in technical guidance.
The second is to promote open access to musical knowledge. For this reason, all editions in our catalog are available under a Creative Commons license, allowing them to be freely downloaded.
In addition to our extensive catalog, the website includes two complementary sections. The first, Sources, is a directory offering access to online manuscripts and first editions of works for lute, vihuela, and baroque guitar. The second, Audiovisuals, features videos and audio recordings that vividly illustrate the essence of our editorial project.
